It truly amazes me the sheer number of people who can stand in front of Angkor Wat’s Reflecting Pond at one point in time. We were told this is best place to watch the sunrise at Angkor Wat, on the left side of Angkor Wat coming from the main entrance. Amongst them were us four, straining our necks to peer through gaps between heads and lifting our cameras just to catch that perfect shot.
We arrived at Angkor Wat before dawn when it was pitch black (about 5.15am) but still it was not early enough for us to clinch front row seats. Tired from yesterday’s cycling, we had decided to hire a tuk-tuk for the day for USD17 shared among us 4. Boy, were we glad to have our driver, Mr Horn, pick us from our hotel lobby instead of having to cycle in the wee hours of the morning.
It was a cloudy morning. We almost thought the sun was gonna just rise buried in the clouds as the skies grew brighter and people started leaving. Until we saw the sun peeking from behind…
